CHQ Utd 3 Oaksey 4
OAKSEY sealed this surprise victory over the cup holders CHQ with two quick second-half goals.
On the hour a clever diagonal free kick by Bradley Wickson from the edge of the box found Jake Pegler in acres of space and his clever lob was headed home by the advancing Ady Lane to put Oaksey 3-2 ahead.
Two minutes later Phil Hall, again in space, evaded two tackles and his shot ricocheted off a defender and over the keeper’s head to make it 4-2.
Earlier Oaksey had got off to a dream start when Hall scored with only two minutes played.
On 16 minutes CHQ’s George Saunders created space for himself and cleverly lobbed the ball over advancing keeper Tommy Bourne to equalise.
Hall scored the middle goal of his hat-trick two minutes later to make it 2-1 to Oaksey. But on 36 minutes CHQ equalised when a cross was unfortunately diverted into the Oaksey goal by one of their own defenders.
After Oaksey had taken their two-goal lead in the second half they came under constant pressure from the league leaders in the final 15 minutes.
Substitute Chris Saunders pulled one back almost on the whistle but Oaksey held on and meet Lechlade in the semi final.
