PREPARING for the World U19 Lacrosse Championships at Edinburgh in July is proving dirty work for two Gloucestershire players.
Nicky Clift, 18, from Meysey Hampton, and Rozy Baynham, 17, from Oakridge Lynch, have been selected for the Wales U19A squad which is preparing initially for the Lacrosse Home Internationals in Edinburgh between March 27 and 29.
Training and tours – the Wales squad is heading to the States in April – are completely self-funded so the girls are tackling a number of fundraising activities.
The latest was a 10km trek through mud and water on Sunday under the banner of the Mud Runner Icebreaker Brutal Cross Country at Eastnor Castle in Herefordshire.
Rendcomb College student Rozy and Nicky, a pupil at Malvern St James School, have known each other for more than 10 years, playing lacrosse together both at school, county and regional level.
Rozy, who has been playing lacrosse and hockey since junior school, has qualified as a Level 1 lacrosse coach and enjoys horse-riding and tennis.
Nicky also enjoys hockey, cycling, swimming, and is a qualified lifeguard.
