THE Swindon Wildcats’ play-off hopes were dealt a serious blow this week when influential import Henri Sandvik quit the club.
The Finnish forward, 27, asked for his contract to be terminated with immediate effect and has left head coach Ryan Aldridge frantically looking for a replacement.
“He came in yesterday (Monday) and asked to terminate his contract with us,” said Aldridge, who believes the player will be moving to Europe and not another club in the UK.
In the 2014 season fan's favourite Sandvik scooped Supporters’ Player of the Year, Coaches’ Player of the Year and the Best Forward awards at the club’s end-of-season awards.
The Finn has played 27 times for the Cats this season, scoring eight goals and making 14 assists.
