SWINDON Robins' fixtures for the forthcoming season start with the seventh annual staging of the Ben Fund Bonanza in aid of the Speedway Riders Benevolent Fund at the Abbey Stadium on Sunday, March 8 (4pm), writes Phil Rice.

The fund exists solely for the purpose of offering support and assistance to speedway riders who have been seriously injured, forced into long-term sickness from their work, or whose lives have been devastated as a result of accidents while racing for British-based teams.

This curtain-raiser to the 2015 season often draws the biggest crowd of the season.

This is followed on Thursday, March 26 by the Bob Kilby Memorial which was postponed from last season.

The Robins begin their league season with a visit to Leicester on Saturday, March 28 when they could face the former Swindon asset Jason Doyle. The Leicester date has yet to be confirmed.

Then it's an immediate double header with league champions Poole on Good Friday (April 3), the South Coast side hosting Swindon early in the day and returning to the Abbey Stadium for the evening clash.

In a tough opening month to the season, the Robins also face away and home matches with King's Lynn on Wednesday, April 22 and Thursday, April 23 respectively.

King's Lynn matched Poole on 70 points in the 2014 core season.

Meanwhile it is hoped that the seventh and final member of the Robins side will be announced within the next couple of days.
