BRITAIN’S Lizzy Yarnold produced a dominant performance at the fourth World Cup race of the season to take gold in Königssee, Germany.

Yarnold, a gold medal winner at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics, became the first slider to win two world cup races this season as she completed her two runs in an overall time of 1:44.24, which put her a comfortable 0.71 seconds ahead of silver medallist, Anja Huber Selbach of Germany.

Gold for the former University of Gloucestershire student followed on from last week’s silver in Altenberg and her pre-Christmas gold in Lake Placid.

The 26-year-old showed no signs of the dizziness which caused her withdrawal from the final 2014 world cup in Calgary. The Kent-born slider has now moved up to fifth overall in the rankings for this season.

A thrilled Yarnold said: “It is such a tough track here in Königssee – it has taken me six years but I’ve finally got it! "
