Cirencester AC and Triathlon Club

CIRENCESTER AC produced a remarkable set of results this week with a win and high number of placings.

Naunton Nearly 19, 18.5 miles, trails

A POPULAR win for Rob Forbes who finished in an excellent time of 2:06.20.

Rob has recently been pipped at the post in some long distance races but not at Naunton. On a beautiful day, with stunning views and without the flooding and frost that were a problem last year, Rob ran superbly to come within one minute of the course record, despite gale force headwinds.

Simon Campbell (2:08.56) tracked Rob all the way to a very strong second place while ultra runner Richard Hurdle (2:21.35) was ninth overall with a MV40 win.

Liza Darroch (3:34.44) is always well up in the age-group placings and won the FV60 award in when taking 100th place overall, from 114, as she finished together with Rupert Chesmore and Martin Croucher.

McCormack Hospital Minimarathon, Chiangmai, Thailand, 7.2 miles roads

ADRIAN WILLIAMS is in Thailand to do a six-day, 1,000 km cycle ride to raise money for a local school and, ever competitive, he decided to throw in a running race as well.

Although we have no official results Adrian came in third overall and we look forward to hearing more news of his trip out east.

Rough’n’Tumble, Marlborough Downs 10miles multi-terrain

KATE FITTON loves off-road running and is making an excellent comeback from her recent foot surgery.

She finishing the tough Downs run in 1:50.20 for 304th place.

The winner was Hugh MacKenzie in 1:08.27 and 527 finished.

THERE was just one Parkrun result this week with Barbara Thomas (27.33) finishing the Swindon event in 181st place in wet and slippery conditions. Barbara was third LV55.

The winner was Stuart Henderson (18.13) of Team Bath and 392 finished.
