Minchinhampton RFC fundraising round-up

PLANS for the new £277,000 clubhouse project at Minchinhampton RFC were given the go-ahead by Stroud District Council on December 11.

The updated plans had been submitted in early September with the help of club captain Matt Austin and the team at David Austin and Associates.

The new clubhouse will be more efficient, better value for money and, we believe, more aesthetically in keeping with the area.

The club’s fundraising efforts over the past few years have been nothing short of outstanding.

We have secured £193,000 in cash and pledges leaving a shortfall of just £84,000.

With £162k worth of ‘irons in the fire’ the club have reason to be optimistic but are maintaining a cautious stance and are determined to close the gap.

As part of the ‘final push’, there are a number of fundraising events scheduled for 2015, which include: January: Bag-packing event planned in the New Year at Sainsbury’s.

Spring: Celebrity pro-am golf day led by Julian Athawes.

May: Minis and juniors end-of-season annual dinner at the Ragged Cot.

May 9/10: The flagship fundraising walk along the 102-mile Cotswold Way, led by Rams captain Gino Beaumont, with a target to raise £10,200 (£100 for every mile).

The whole of Minch RFC will be walking, hiking and or strolling from both ends of the Cotswold Way to meet in the middle at Selsey Common.

May: Seniors' Annual Dinner.

May: Rucker’s business lunch.

This year’s flagship fundraiser will be the Cotswold Way Walk
