M4 Karting Cirencester League Div One
Oaksey 2 Intel 1
OAKSEY, who were without the league's top scorer Phil Hall, built this hard-fought victory over second-placed Intel on the back of a resolute defence.
Intel were also missing striker Adam O’Bree but his fellow joint-top scorer John Horgan looked dangerous early on until the Oaksey back four of Tommy Bourne, Tom Hainsworth, Dom Bird and Paul Rose began to take control.
Oaksey took the lead on 26 minutes when captain Jake Pegler volleyed the ball over a defender and then tapped the ball in.
Intel equalised with a couple of first-half minutes left to play when Chris People shot home from 15 yards through a crowded defence following a corner.
Early in the second half, Oaksey were reduced to 10 men but subsequently held out, albeit desperately at times.
Their reward was to get the winner via an own goal late on.
