REIGNING Motostar Moto3 champion Jordan Weaving has announced his move up into the Pirelli National Superstock 600 series with Russo Racing, writes Alannah Fellows.

The 17-year-old former Cirencester Deer Park School pupil turned many heads in the MCE British Superbike paddock with his consistency during the 2014 season, winning two races and finishing on the podium ten times.

Weaving will be racing the powerful Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R in 2015 with the backing of one of the most experienced teams in the paddock.

Weaving said: “This is a great chance for me to race for an established and experienced team.

“I’m very grateful for the opportunity Ross, Barry and the team have presented me and I’m excited to have the important support of Kawasaki UK behind us, too.

“It’s a bit cliched these days, but I’m training hard after college each day to be in the best shape I can for next season and I genuinely can’t wait until I get to ride the Russo Racing Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R for the first time.”

Weaving will make his debut in the series on April 4 at Donington Park for the opening round of the season.

Team Manager Barry Boughton said: “We’re obviously delighted to welcome Jordan to the team; he’s a proven talent and an exciting prospect for the championship.

"We want to make the transition to the bigger bike as easy as possible for him and will give Jordan every resource we can to make that happen.

"We want to continue the momentum from this season and be challenging for podiums at the earliest opportunity. With Jordan, we believe we can achieve that.”

Stroud-based Weaving joins Superstock 1000 contender Nick Anderson on the Russo Racing roster and will be testing his new bike in Spain early in 2015.
