Valencia Marathon, 26.2 miles, roads

CIREN’S roving runner Martin Croucher ran the popular Valencia Marathon to achieve an excellent personal best in 3:18.11.

It was an impressive run which beat his previous best by five and a half minutes. Martin’s assessment: “It’s a great race.”

Likeys Beacons Ultra – 46miles, multi-terrain

IT IS not often that we report an overall race win for a lady but in the gruelling Brecon Beacons event Clare Prosser (6:38.48) sprinted to the line achieving a winning margin of just 10 seconds.

The longer the race the narrower the gap between men and women and we’re sure we’ll see more women win in the future.

Ciren’s men had an excellent race coping with numerous thousand foot climbs including a final elevation of 1,750ft.

Richard Hurdle (8:04.40) was 17th overall after running the Beachy Head Marathon just two weeks previously.

He was delighted but could have been 10 minutes quicker had he stayed on route.

Next in was the experienced Andy Hindson (9:11.59) in 41st place and third home for Ciren was the improving Ed Morris (9:50.58) in 68th. This experienced ultra team came in a very respectable fourth and are planning to do even better in 2015.

Swindon Parkrun, 5km park trails

SIMON CAMPBELL (19.04) was again on buggy duty coming fifth overall. Although he missed a hat- trick of buggy PBs he was first VM35-39. Barbara Thomas (26.24) closing in on 100 races this year was 137th and first VW55-59. David Moss (44.46), escorting a first-timer, was 363rd. 369 finished.

Bath Skyline 10km, multi-terrain

PART of a three-race series, the 10km course comprises two savage loops that follow the escarpment adjacent to the University of Bath sports training village.

The race times reflect the challenge the course presents. David Moss ran a 57.53, finishing 140th out of 566 finishers. The winner was Ryan Kestle (41.32) of North Somerset AC.
