Lechlade 0 Poulton 14 (fourteen)
LECHLADE suffered their biggest defeat in recent memory when going down 14-0 at home to Poulton.
Steve ‘Cas’ Goddard, who has been the mainstay at Lechlade FC for many years, deserves plenty of sympathy.
He had four players drop out on the morning of the match, leaving the side with 10 men, and another left the field midway through the second half when they were 8-0 down.
Extraordinarily, given the final score, the game was goalless until the 40th minute when Rob Paget opened the scoring for Poulton and Tom Carpenter made it 2-0 just before the interval.
However, Poulton scored at will in the second half.
Luke Richards, making his debut for the club, got the first of his five goals two minutes after the break.
Four goals from John Dawson, another from Paget and one each from Del Fallon and Blain Close completed the scoring.
