Avonvale Utd U11s 13 (thirteen) Fairford Town U11s 2

AVONVALE bounced back from last week's defeat with a convincing victory over a well organised Fairford team Avonvale had to start with a new set-up due to some absences but everyone put up a very good performance.

Rhys Cogbill was commanding in goal, organising his defence and saving a penalty in the first half. Will Evans had a great game playing sweeper behind a back three of Atticus Adams, Adam Fahey and Bailey Robinson.

Going forward Vale played some great flowing football.

Luca Pollitt scored five and set up two. Cian Phoenix took the central midfield role and contributed a spectacular goal. Charley Berryman Jenkins produced a great dispslay on the right wing and chipped in with a goal. That left man of the match Alec Birtles with four goals and some wonderful attacking play. Louis Corbett was welcomed back from injury, and came on to score a great goal.

Cotswold Rangers v Avonvale Utd U9s

AVONVALE suffered a defeat on Saturday morning to a well organised Cotswold Rangers side.

With a few players missing Vale performed well for the whole game and worked very hard. Goals from Jake Randall, Rafe Phillips and Zak Hitchcock Smith were unfortunately not enough to secure the win.

Eastcombe U15s 1 Avonvale Utd U15s 0

AVONVALE fell to their first defeat of the season against a battling Eastcombe side.

The only goal of the game came midway through the first half, with exchanges having been even to that point.

Eastcombe's centre forward pounced after some indecisive defending and finished with a speculative long range shot.

Vale came to life late on in the first half, but still found penetrating the Eastcombe back line difficult.

The second half brought better chances at both ends, with an Adam Gale shot hitting the side netting and an Owen Barron volley forcing the goalkeeper into a very good save.

Meanwhile, keeper Adam Foster and Ewan Hart stood firm under pressure at the other end as Vale pushed forward looking for the equaliser, but Eastcombe held on for a hard-earned victory.

Avonvale Utd U16s 6 Cam Everside U16s 0

VALE welcomed Cam Everside in the preliminary rounds of the K B Coaches Cup. Both teams started strongly with Vale pushing forward at every opportunity, though not capitalising on their chances.

The breakthrough came when Owen Johnson received the ball out wide and slotted it past the keeper from a tight angle.

Vale's second goal was set up by Johnson whose cross into a crowded goalmouth was scrambled into the net by Sam Hoare.

The second half saw Vale take command: a second goal from Hoare, two unstoppable blasts from centre midfielder Luke Freeman and one from Ed Ramsey.

While not often troubled, keeper Cristian Goodwin made two outstanding saves to protect his clean sheet as Cam continued to battle to the end.

MoM: Dan Carpenter.

Tetbury Town U12s 0 Avonvale Utd U12s 2
AVONVALE returned to winning ways with a hard-fought 2-0 win at local rivals Tetbury Town.

The game was played at an intense pace throughout.

Vale broke the deadlock early on as Dom Randall broke down the left wing, driving into the penalty box before brilliantly firing in from a tight angle.

They continued to press for a second with Ben Lemos and Randall both denied by excellent saves from the Tetbury keeper while Orlando Harding was a constant threat down the left wing.

Eventually the second goal did come through a solo effort from Lewis Rodgers who ran the length of the opposition half before slotting home.

Tetbury had their best spell of pressure on the Avonvale goal in the last 10 minutes, but the defence of Theo Harper, Elliot Kayani and Flynn Walton was solid until the end.
