THE return of Jonas Hoog seems to have given the Swindon Wildcats the boost they desperately needed as they extended their winning streak to four games at the weekend.

Early pace-setters Telford travelled to the Link Centre on Saturday and came out of the blocks quickly, but Cats goalie Stevie Lyle was in good form to deny several chances.

Swindon absorbed the early pressure and hit the Tigers on the break to take a lead through Aaron Nell who received a perfect pass Jonas Hoog. Coach Ryan Aldridge's men went quickly about doubling their lead as Tomasz Malasinski fired home. The Pole continues to impress in his first campaign with the Wiltshire outfit.

Finnish forward Henri Sandvik got the second period off to a great start as he gave his side a crucial three-goal lead.

Lyle continued to thwart Telford, pulling off a series of remarkable saves on the way to his second shut-out of the season.

The big two points were sealed when Malasinski collected his second goal, this time from a rebound.

Swindon have now defeated Telford - arguably the league's best team - twice this season and on both occasions recorded an easy 4-0 scoreline. On Sunday, the Wildcats headed to Milton Keynes to take on the Lightning and they got the best out of Lyle again as he was asked serious questions early on.

Early goals from Welshman Adam Harding and Ollie Betteridge gave Swindon a 2-0 lead after one period of action.

Follwing a scoreless second frame, the Lightning surged in the third session and bagged two goals through Adam Carr and Stanislav Lascek to take the tie to overtime.

Neither side could get a breakthrough during the extra five minutes as both goalies continued to impress.

Nell was the lone scorer in the shoot-out to give his side the full two points.

The Wildcats travel to Basingstoke on Saturday before facing the Lightning again on Sunday, this time at the Swindon Ice Arena.
