Cirencester U13s 29 Royal Wootton Bassett U13s 24

CIRENCESTER U13s won a tense and hard-fought local derby against Royal Wootton Bassett.

RWB made an early breakthrough when their big No.12 brushed off several tackles to score a converted try.

But Ciren rallied via a Max Mosley try and then Will Harris scored a wonderful individual try from 50 metres out, going over under the posts. (12-7).

RWB upped the intensity but Jack Hughes ripped the ball from the attacking winger, stayed ahead of the chasers, and touched down.

Hughes was denied another potential score after hacking on, only to be pulled back by an RWB player. A swift tap penalty to Elliot Thompson saw the skipper go over under the posts (24-7).

RWB came back strongly with their No.8 scoring in the corner but his Ciren counterpart Thompson picked up from a scrum near the Bassett line and the defence were unable to stop him.

The rest of the game belonged to RWB as Ciren let their intensity drop. RWB recycled the ball well, pressurising the Ciren defence and scored two tries (one converted ) to take the final score to 29-24 MoM: Will Harris
