JONNY MAY has signed a three-year deal to stay with Gloucester.

The news comes in the week he was named in the England Elite Player squad for the November internationals along with team-mates Ben Morgan and Billy Twelvetrees.

He is the second player to sign a new contract this week following in the footsteps of Matt Kvesic.

May, 24, has spent entire professional playing career to date with Gloucester, having graduated from the club's Academy after playing for Wootton Bassett as a junior.

He made his first team debut in the 2009-10 season and is now closing in on 100 competitive appearances for the club.

He boasts an impressive try-scoring ratio of 45 tries from 94 outings and has won seven England caps.

Gloucester director of rugby David Humphreys said: "Jonny is another one of our brightest young talents, the sort of player that we are looking to build our team around over the next few seasons.

"The last couple of years have seen his profile rise considerably so we're delighted that he sees Gloucester as the right place to continue to develop his career."

May said: "I'm absolutely delighted. It's the club I've grown up with, it's my home and I've got great friends here. I love playing for Gloucester.

"I'm really happy with how things are looking here, we've got some great players and look like retaining a core group going forward. All our new coaches have been really impressive and, for me, it's a great place to be at the moment. We look like a team for the future, we're building all the time.

"I couldn't wait to put pen to paper, it was a simple decision. I was out of contract at the end of season but, looking at how things are shaping up with the new coaches and players, I couldn't be happier.”
