Stratton Youth U17s 6 Wanborough Juniors U17s 0

NEW BOY Kyle Kent transformed Stratton's fortunes in a game that was more even than the scoreline suggests.

A swirling wind made this a difficult game and both sides cancelled each other out for long periods of the first half. Stratton were getting the better chances but were failing to find the killer blow.

It was looking like a goalless first half before new boy Kyle Kent got on to the end of a cross into the box and finished with a lovely cushioned header.

The second half was still very even until Charlie Savage and Kent added two goals in a three-minute spell.

On 75 minutes, MoM Kent secured his hat-trick with a 25-yard wonder strike into the top right corner.

Wanborough kept on pressing but could not find a way through the Stratton defence. With five minutes remaining, Nathan Indge finished a neat move to celebrate his return after injury. Then the hard working Harry Rogers made it 6-0 in the final minutes to complete the victory.

A SUPERB 20-minute hat-trick from Nic Burr saw Highworth take a 3-1 lead but Stratton proved unstoppable after the break.

Burr's goals prompted a change of tactic from Stratton with the midfield instructed to provide more support to an outnumbered defence.

This immediately paid dividends as Will Collings, Mike McCarten and Louie Jackson became much more assured in defence without the team losing any potency in attack.

Joe Speak, James Thomas and Michael Cook were linking well, making intelligent runs and each of them scored to put Stratton 4-3 ahead at half-time.

Stratton soon began to take control again in the second period with Matt Hopkins and Jethro Kingsley becoming a threat down the wings.

When a cross from the right was headed home by Cook for his hat-trick to make it 5-3 the Highworth players' heads noticeably dropped.

Stratton then turned on the style adding further goals from Speak, Thomas, Hopkins, Kingsley and Jack Sheridan (2).

A VERY close match played in windy conditions saw Wootton Bassett take the lead after good early pressure.

Stratton began to get into the game and were denied chances by some fine goalkeeping. At the break they were still 1-0 down.

The second half saw much more pressure from Stratton, who equalised after 55 minutes through a Jamie Witt goal.

However, against the run of play, Wootton Bassett struck back, re-taking the lead. Stratton continued to press, with numerous corners, and a superb second goal from Witt gave them the equaliser.

Again a fine display from the home keeper ensured a fair result at 2-2 on the day. Stratton's MoM was Tom Keylock for non stop running and tackling.

Wootton Bassett 's scorers were Joe Mitchell and Jamie Rathbone.

THE U9s continued their development with games at home to Wroughton, in which Ollie Potter scored four, while Jayden Stratford, Leo Jones, and Jacob Ryan bagged one apiece.

In the away game to Stratton Juniors, Ollie Potter and Jayden Stratford bagging a brace each with Charlie Miller also on the score sheet.
