Carterton 5
Purton 1
FOR THE second week on the trot Purton conceded five goals, this time at Carterton on Saturday, writes Alan Eastwood.
Going into the game without defenders Aaron Stevens and Steve Davies as well as midfielders Kenny Hawkins and Steven May along with Ben Carter, club manager Justin Miller named himself as one of the substitutes for the game.
Despite all the home side's early pressure Purton defended well but showed little up front and fell behind after 31 minutes with a disputed penalty and then, after James Griffin had been sent off, they went 2-0 behind after 42 minutes.
Purton went 3-0 down on the hour. Manager Miller came off the bench 10 minutes later and soon pulled a goal back when volleying in from 18 yards after a Ritchie Saunders effort was pushed out by the home keeper.
However, Carterton went on to net two more goals in the last five minutes to complete the scoring and make it another bad day at the office for the Reds.
