Malmesbury Vics Res 2

Stroud 2

HONOURS were even after a closely-contested clash between Vics Reserves and Stroud.

The Vics started at a furious pace, and it was no surprise when young James Hurcombe was on hand to knock the ball home following a corner by Jordan Thompson.

Chances then went begging as the normally dependable Ed Wilkins failed to hit the target on a couple of occasions.

Stroud deservedly got back into the game on 32 minutes when player/manager Colin Taylor crashed the ball home off the underside of the bar, giving home keeper 'Macca' Brown, no chance.

The second half started with Malmesbury pressing hard and Ash Bryant capped a fine performance by nodding home another Thompson cross.

The speed of Stroud's substitutes caused concern to the home defence, and Jake Ellis headed home a deserved equaliser for the visitors.
