BOURTON ROADRUNNERS are always keen to contest points in the County Road Race Series, so a determined bunch of them headed to the Bugatti 10k,which took place at Prescott Hill Climb HQ, Gretton.

The route is described by the organisers, Almost Athletes as 'undulating'.

In truth, the race is a toughie: starting from a lower point than it finishes and involving a steep downhill from the start and a relentless uphill climb to the finish.

Tony Goodwill ran a strong 42.16 (first MV55) and Niamh Shoemark just missed a podium place with a speedy 44.49 for fourth lady and first FV45.

Susan Hunt surprised herself with a PB of 46.01 (second LV45) and Steph Holton made her 47.41 (third LV50) look easy. Next in was Chris Dry with 50.58 and Dave Turnbull 51.32 (third MV65). Lynn Hudson was second LV55 in 55.46.

Helsingborg Marathon STEVE EDWARDS completed marathon number 649, at Helsingborg, Sweden in a time of 3:19.02. This was a challenging, single loop, multi-terrain course following a mixture of park and woodland tracks as well as road.

Steve ran the final two miles in 6.52 and 6.59 in order to record a 399th sub-3:20.

He now just one more to become the first European to reach 400.

Steve said: "This was Helsingborg's first-ever marathon and what an excellent event it turned out to be.

There was loads of crowd support, good marshalling and plenty of aid stations stocked with water, energy drink and fruit.

It was an interesting course and a great finish by the sea looking at Denmark on the other side."
