Cirencester Town Dev Team 4
New College Swindon 0
THE Cirencester Town Development Squad's victory over New College was notable on two counts.
Despite playing well in the first five weeks of the season, it was the side's first success in this higher league and the game also marked the return of Ellis Dunton to the Cirencester fold.
Cirencester dominated and chances were created and missed throughout the fIrst half by Danny Gudger, Jacob Davidge, Robbie James, Dunton (twice) and Kieran Jones.
Apart from the finishing it was a very impressive first half from the hosts and the New College boys were forced to commit a spate of niggly fouls, especially on Davidge who was running riot down the wing.
Whatever was said at half-time had an immediate effect as Davidge got on the end of a throw-in and blasted the ball into the roof of the net to make it 1-0.
The general level of play went up a few notches and on 53 minutes Shane Bumphrey crossed from the right hand side and Jack Smith bagged a goal his tireless running deserved.
Within two minutes Jones scored to put the game beyond New College.
On 65 minutes, manager Clive Messenger made a double substitution, bringing on two young Academy players, Harry Bidwall and Alex Bateman.
A fine Cirencester display was capped when Tom Luce, who had put in another strong performance, lashed a long-range effort into the net.
