M4 Karting Cirencester League Div Two
Down Ampney 5
Oaksey Res 1
DOWN AMPNEY had to work very hard to maintain their unbeaten run – despite the scoreline.
Oaksey Reserves, fielding a bare XI including two players with a combined age of 110, played some attractive football in the first half and deservedly took the lead with a smartly taken lob by new boy Gareth Jones.
Down Ampney levelled before half-time and despite having a man sent off early in the second half, their positive play soon took the initiative away from Oaksey.
The home team's decision to swap their right winger into the middle unsettled the Oaksey defence and Ampney rattled in three goals to seal the game.
A fourth second-half goal made it look like a rout, but it was far from that.
Up until Ampney's second goal it had been a very close contest.
