STEVE EDWARDS, of the Bourton Roadrunners club, is closing in on two landmark achievements in his stellar marathon-running career.
Edwards, 51, from Moreton-in-Marsh, is just two short of his 650th marathon, a milestone he hopes to reach at the Hereford Running Festival on Sunday, September 21.
Even more significantly, Steve is hoping to set a world record as the first person to run 400 official sub-3hr 20min marathons. He is also just two short of that target.
Having already achieved world records for running both 500 and 600 marathons in the fastest average finish time, Steve's ultimate ambition is to reach 1,000 marathons while maintaining an average finish time of well inside 3:30.
And you would not bet against him.
His epic journey started back in April 1988 and on average has run a competitive marathon race every 14 days since then.
He hopes his efforts continue to inspire others and also help raise money for his favourite local Cotswold charity, Kate's Home Nursing.
