Bill Burn Trophy

Martin made a mockery of his handicap and ensured he won't be playing off 19 for quite a while with a net 63 that had hardly a blemish on his card and was helped by some superb putting.

Evan Jarrett came second with net 66, having already finished in the runner-up position in the August stableford.

He had the consolation of winning division one from David Warden who had a super round of net 67 highlighted by a birdie on the sixth hole. John Binder, promoted to division one after his division two win in August's stableford, also scored 67 points to take third place followed by Ian Hunter and Godfrey Cottrell on net 68 points.

Second place in division two with a net 69 was Tony Greatorex on countback from Robin Johnson on the same score.

The minor placings were taken by David Bourne and Alan McDonald who both scored net 72.

Shrivenham Park 4.5

Cirencester 1.5

CIRENCESTER'S opening pair of seniors captain Clive Bennett and Ian Hunter got the team off to a winning start with a two up win. John Hall and Mike Staples should have won their match but for a putting mistake on the last and had to settle for a half.

But that was as good as it got for Cirencester as it became clear that experience of this tricky course was invaluable. All four remaining matches were won comfortably by Shrivenham.
