ON A damp pitch and heavy outfield, Minety fell well short when chasing a Fairford seconds total of 207.

Minety 81 all out

Fairford II 207-7

Given the conditions Fairford were disappointed to lose the toss and be asked to bat first.

However, openers Paul Freeman (41) and Rich Cowley (30) made light of the difficult conditions to get their innings off to a brisk start.

Colin Denness carried on the good work, top-scoring with 46, including several impressive boundaries.

As wickets tumbled towards the end, Simon Embleton-Smith did enough to take the team to maximum batting points, finishing on 40no of a total of 207-7.

Tony Gardner was the pick of the home bowlers, taking 3-34 from his 10 overs.

Minety never looked like threatening Fairford's total with only Gardner and Hobbs getting into double figures (both making 21).

Paul Morris set the early tone for the visitors, proving almost impossible to get away, as he returned the excellent figures of 7-3-8-3, before injuring a finger dropping a caught & bowled chance.

Denness took two quick wickets before making way for young Harvey New and Rich Bennett to finish things off with a wicket each.

Minety were all out for 81 in the 26th over, 126 runs behind.
