WITH both defences and midfield units dominating, the match between Purton and Hook Norton at the Red House ended in a 0-0 stalement, writes Alan Eastwood.

Purton 0

Hook Norton 0

Purton had the better of the few chances created by either side and they might have claimed all three points as an 84th-minute effort by substitute Kenny Hawkins, who signed earlier in the week, struck the cross bar from 15 yards.

During the game two great crosses, one in each half from Ben Carter, saw Purton efforts headed over the bar, while Carter was denied by a diving save from the Hooky keeper.

At the other end, Purton keeper Justin Yates thwarted an effort in each half with excellent stops.

Steven May was Purton's man of the match with a brilliant midfield display.

Purton used all three subs – Marcus Hall, Dave Gee and Kenny Hawkins – but were without Joe Dorey and Scott Campbell.
