OAKSEY, who are under new management, have perhaps suffered by starting their Cirencester & District League season with away games against top sides South Cerney and CHQ United.

Cirencester & District League Div One

CHQ United 5

Oaksey 2

Saturday’s visit to CHQ saw the visitors making a bright start with the persistent Jake Pegler scoring on 16 minutes.

With the returning Tom Hainsworth in command at the back several CHQ chances came to nothing but pressure saw the home side soon equalise.

But seven minutes before the break the experienced Phil Hall put Oaksey 2-1 up from the spot.

The second half is probably best forgotten for Oaksey as much of the good work was wasted despite facing only ten men.

CHQ having had a penalty well saved by Dave Hicks, equalised on 59 minutes from an own goal and further strikes from Ben Saunders, substitute Chris Saunders and Cobb made it 5-1 to the champions.

Cirencester & District League Div Two

Siddington Sports Vets 2

Oaksey Reserves 2

OAKSEY RESERVES had Siddington on the back foot for most of the first half and deservedly led 2-0 at the break with goals from Adam and then Joe Topping.

The second half continued in the same vein until a ball over the top caught out Oaksey's defence. Siddington took full advantage of this to grab a first goal.

As in their previous game, Oaksey had a hatful of chances in the second half, but failed to capitalise on any of them.

The visitors had good reason to regret these misses when a disputed free kick deep in the Oaksey half was excellently converted by Siddington for the equaliser.

A case of two points lost for Oaksey Reserves, rather than one point gained.
