THIS was Cirencester Town at our best. We pressed Banbury hard and completely stopped them playing. We scored five but it could have been eight or nine.

Against Dunstable on Saturday, I think the Poole game four days earlier, when we put in an incredible effort, took more out of us than we thought and we got very leggy and tired in the second half. We had chances to be 3-0 up at half-time but they brought two fresh centre forwards on in the second half and that coincided with us running out of puff.

The Banbury game was a truer reflection of our side. We are now the joint top goalscorers in the league. When we are good we are very good.

I was delighted Aidan (Bennett) got his two goals. He missed a piece of pre-season and some of the lads like Gethin Jones and Nat Jarvis had never seen him in full flow.

Nat also got two good goals. He’s only 22 and a very nice lad. He just needed to get a smile back and start enjoying his football again and I think we are seeing the results of that.

Shayne (Anson) has come back so quickly from his injury he has rather thrown me. He would not have done the same fitness work as the others but it is not showing.

Jamie (Edge) missed out because he tweaked some ankle ligamentsin the Dunstable game but he should not be out for too long.

Leigh Henry’s problem with his knee is not as serious as he previously thought. It is not actually the knee that is the issue but the tendon below the knee so he is in a much better frame of mind having discovered that.

Reidy has got exactly the same problem in his groin that affected Shayne Anson so at least we know how to treat it.

We could do with all the injured ones being back for Saturday because Gethin is going to be unavailable and Nat is on international duty with Antigua for three games.
