THE Moto3 World Championship has been pretty busy recently with back-to-back weekends of racing in the United States and the Czech Republic, where I got my first podium of the season, writes Danny Kent.

The 10th round took place in Indianapolis and I didn’t do as well as I had hoped. Seventeenth place in qualifying meant I had a lot of ground to make up in the race.

But I made a good start, gaining three places in the opening lap. However, the gap to the leading group was just too big and I finished in 12th, earning three points, 4.4sec behind the race winner Efren Vazquez.

After Indianapolis, I flew straight to the Czech Republic for round 11 – I didn’t have time to fly home.

I was really looking forward to racing on the Brno circuit in Prague as it is one of my favorite tracks. It really suits my racing style with fast and slow corners.

However, it wasn’t that easy and we struggled in qualifying, finishing in 12th position, albeit an improvement on the week before in Indianapolis. During the race I dropped down to 19th, but I clawed my way back, although I did nearly crash on the last lap which did not help.

Out of nowhere it all got quite thrilling, I managed to move up to fourth place. Taking advantage of other rider’s mistakes I really pushed hard and worked my way through the pack. On the final corner I came out in third and managed to grab my first podium of the year.

I could per haps have won the race, but the incident at the beginning of the final lap did hold me back a little. It was an impressive display to come from 19th place and I was so happy to get on the podium.

During the summer break I managed to get home for a while. I did some training with my Red Bull team-mate Jack Miller and also Arthur Sissis. I managed to fit in some games of squash too which helped us to unwind and relax before the second half of the season began. We also got my little brother a new bike so we took him to his first outdoor race.

The British GP at Silverstone is next on the calendar (August 31) . I think we are in a really great position as a team – especially with Miller leading the championship. My podium in Brno not only boosted my confidence but also moved me up to 11th in the overall standings ahead of Silverstone. I know we have the speed to win and if we push hard enough I know we can achieve it.

I’m looking forward to the support of the home crowd. It always gives you an extra boost knowing your friends and family are there to cheer you on.

I’m actually looking forward to the pressures of riding at my home GP track. I am hoping it will give me the motivation to go faster and perform on the day. I just want to do the best I can and bring home a win for the crowd.
