Birthday Vase
The Birthday Vase is an 18-hole medal competition and this year the 75 competitors had to deal with a strong blustery wind and sporadic rain showers.
Past club captain Mark has had a successful summer and hopes to continue his good form in the English Captains' Grand Final held in London later this year.
On Sunday, Mark narrowly held off a contingent of the club’s outstanding junior section, with 14-year-old Chalmers Phin continuing his excellent form by finishing one shot behind the winner with 74/65. Third place was a battle between two more teenagers with Daniel Gregory (75/68) edging out Lewis Flett (77/68) on countback.
Daniel recently attained excellent A-level results and is off to Warwick University in September to study a Mathematics-related degree.
