SWINDON St George disabled rugby team have taken possession of some tough sports wheelchairs largely funded by Wiltshire Wooden Spoon, the rugby union charity.
The wheelchairs were handed over at a special ceremony at Isambard Community Centre in Swindon.
Guests included Shane Geraghty, the London Irish and former England fly half.
Swindon St George disabled group gave a demonstration of how teams use the wheelchairs and participants, led by new England assistant coach Tony Ellis, included four national players.
The Wooden Spoon fund raising pot included £1,000 donated by Royal Wootton Bassett RFC.
Gareth John, chairman of Wiltshire Wooden Spoon, said: “To help the disabled in their endeavours has given us all a tremendous sense of purpose and we hope the new wheelchairs will lead to real success for the Swindon St George disabled team.”
