LECHLADE face their biggest weekend of the season with a top-three clash against Swindon this afternoon in the Glos/Wilts Division and a Gloucestershire County Cup Semi Final on Sunday against Glos Premier League outfit Gloucester AIW.

Lechlade will not only be looking to extend their 13-point lead at the top of the league at Swindon but will also be looking for some revenge for the humiliating defeat suffered at the hands of their hosts earlier in the season.

Swindon are only one of two teams to beat Lechlade this campaign.

It’s a big weekend in the Glos/Wilts Division as the league’s top four play each with second-placed Rockhampton taking on Biddestone, who lie fourth.

Wins for Lechlade and Rockhampton would end Swindon and Biddestone’s title challenges. However, big wins for the latter pair would turn the title into a four-horse race.

Lechlade make only one change for the derby clash at Swindon’s County Ground with Paul Godding returning for the unavailable Freddie Martin.

Lechlade captain Joe Breet says that his side know the importance of this Saturday’s game and that everyone is focused on the matter in hand.

“I have no doubt that the boys will be on their best game this weekend as they know a win will go a long way in securing our title aspirations,” said Breet.

“Several of the lads feel they have points to prove after our poor showing in our earlier game with Swindon this season and I am confident we can set the record straight with a win.”

Tomorrow (Sunday), Lechlade travel to Gloucester AIW in defence of the Gloucestershire County Cup.

Their hosts currently sit in fourth place in the Glos Premier League and also face a big weekend as they are still in the title race for their division.

Lechlade’s cup captain Arran Dickinson expects a tricky game but again feels confident with his team’s chances of making a second consecutive appearance in the final.

“We have a strong side out for the encounter which is well balanced in the batting and bowling departments,” said Dickinson.

“The club is committed to defending our title and I see no reason why we shouldn’t as on our day we are a match for any side in Gloucestershire.”
