GLOUCESTERSHIRE'S London Olympics gold medal-winning pair Charlotte Dujardin and Carl Hester have been selected as part of the four strong GB team at the 2014 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games, which takes place in Normandy next month.

The dressage competition runs in Caen from August 25-29.

Dujardin and Hester, both based in Newent, will partner Valegro and Nip Tuck respectively.

They are joined by Michael Eilberg, from Redditch, Worcestershire, riding Half Moon Delphi and Gareth Hughes, from Bishops Itchington, Warwickshire, aboard Nadonna.

Lara Griffith, who is based at Ampney St Peter, Gloucestershire, has been selected as a non-travelling reserve.

Richard Waygood, chef d’equipe for the British team said: "We set our goal after London to qualify at the World Equestrian Games for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, and to do this we need to be in the top three nations.

"Achieving qualification this summer will allow us to campaign next year with as much flexibility as possible, without having to worry about qualification. It’s going to be a very exciting championship.”
