LECHLADE captain Joe Breet and his team-mate Oli Thornley have both been invited to take part in a special Ten10 tournament at the Cheltenham Festival on Friday (July 25).

Big-hitting Breet will line up for the Gloucestershire Cricket Board Dream Team which will be captained by Thornbury’s Richard Trotman.

The GCB team will be competing against a Brewin Dolphin XI – featuring young batsman Thornley – a Gloucestershire Old Boys’ side captained by Mark Alleyne and a Gloucester Rugby team composed of Kingsholm professionals.

All ten outfield players will have to bowl an over in the unusual format, guaranteeing plenty of thrills and spills.

Other players representing the GCB include Will Cartlidge and Will Tyler, who both helped Rockhampton reach last season’s Village Cup final at Lord’s and Downend skipper Matt Jackson.

Steve Silk, the GCB's Chief Executive, said: "The day is going to be a bit of fun and provide a number of players with the opportunity to play at the historic Cheltenham Festival.

"Most people involved in cricket are aware of this festival and so for 11 Gloucestershire recreational cricketers it provides a wonderful opportunity.

"It is an acknowledgement to these 11 players that they have been selected based on what they do week in, week out. A bit of fun, yes, but we’ll be going out to win it."

The action starts at noon. Admission is £5 for adults with U18s admitted free.

Hospitality lunch packages in a pitchside marquee are available, priced at £25 + VAT per person. For details, call 0117 910 8022, or email Julie.waite@glosccc.co.uk
