DAVE BELL of Cirencester AC has carried his winter half-marathon form into the shorter summer distances and achieved yet another fine win to add to his victory last year at the popular Evesham 10k.

Evesham 10km
Despite twists and turns and a couple of sharp hills David’s time of 33.00, bettered last year’s time by 1min 30sec and set a new course record. There were 564 finishers.
Pilot 10mile, Severn AC
ANOTHER Ciren runner who is benefiting from hard winter training is Simon Campbell who came second in this testing 10-miler.
Simon was disappointed not to hit his goal of one hour but his time, in very hot temperatures, of 1:01.18 was a commendable PB.
Barbara Thomas, who is chasing a top three in the Gloucester Road Race series, finished in 29th spot and completed the race in 1:41.58. Thirty-seven runners finished.
Upton on Severn Triathlons
CIREN'S traithletes did well in a couple of events at this busy race series.
Pride of place went to Bob Ferris in the Sprint Triathlon – a 750m river swim, 20km bike and 5km run.
Bob finished 15 minutes ahead of his nearest age-group competitor and was 12th overall in 1:23.18 and first in the 60 category.
John Evans, sporting a new hip, was 50th overall in 1:31.59 and second in his 65 plus age-group. Nick Wall was 59th in 1:33.40 out of 161 finishers. The winner was Jamie Martin in 1:09.43.
In the Standard distance event – a 1500m swim, 40km bike and 10km run – Trudy Compton took the Ciren honours.
Trudy is making a long comeback after surgery and with the help of some ibuprofen finished 86th overall, and fourth in her age-group in 2:43.29. She stayed ahead of Les Davis (2:44.04) who was 93rd but unfortunately Hilda-May Latham had to withdraw after a puncture in the bike stage. Lee Morton won in 2:10.48 and 259 finished.
Midsummer Open
THE Hares, the Club’s juniors, were competing at the Midsummer Open in Cheltenham.
In the U13 100m Thomas Rowland finished fourth in 15.47 and then went on to compete in the 600m where he was pushed into fourth place by his brother Harvey.
They finished in 1.55.74 and 1.57.29 respectively. In the 1500m mixed event Eleanor Middleton was 14th in 5.56.91.
