DAGLINGWORTH'S international triathlete Steve Yates proved he is closing in on his best form again when winning his age category (+40yrs) at the Votwo South Cerney Classic Triathlon.
Yates, who has gradually been easing his way back to full fitness after breaking his collar bone in a serious biking accident last year, finished in 2hr 11min 22sec in the 1.5k swim/40k bike/10k run event.
That gave him victory in his age group by more than four minutes and finished in sixth place overall.
He intends to return to international competition next year having finished runner-up in the 2012 World Long Distance Triathlon Championships (45-49yrs) in Spain. Steve is now sponsored by Ride 24/7 in Cirencester.
