FORMER Gloucestershire junior champion Ross Langdon achieved the biggest win of his career with a three-under-par 68 in the Pro-Am at Cotswold Edge.

The 26-year-old South Cerney touring player won outright for the first time to beat four more experienced rivals by one shot.

This was his first solo success. Langdon's only previous win came in a four-way tie at Cirencester three years ago while he was a trainee at Henbury.

The former runner-up in the Total Triumph Order of Merit on the Gloucester and Somerset PGA winter series circuit has been threatening to break through this season. He was second at both Ross-on-Wye and North Wilts and fifth in the Assistants Pro Sprint League.

His Cotswold day did not start well as he dropped a shot on the second, fifth and eighth holes although three birdies brought him level by the turn.

He leapt ahead of the field with three birdies over the four closing holes.

Former European Tour player Andrew Sherborne (Trevose) followed his win at Stinchcombe by sharing second. Like Daryl Kelley (Filton) he made four birdies and two bogeys. Sion Bebb (Morlais Castle) dropped just one shot while Lee Thompson (Dudsbury) was adventurous. He posted six birdies and dropped four shots.
