CHEDWORTH consolidated their second place in the Division One table of the CDCA league with a comfortable, albeit rain-affected, win against NATS at Notgrove.

In the only match in the division to survive the weekend rain, NATS posted a competitive 178-8 with the Phillips family – Andrew (54), Stuart (44) and Bob (40) – providing most of the runs.

For Chedworth, Henry Lait (3-19) bowled well and Dan Heaps (3-52) cleaned up the tail.

After tea the second innings was reduced by rain to 20 overs and the target set at 90 to win. Despite the loss of two early wickets to Rob Griffiths (2-31) the visitors avoided any further rain interference by racing to 90-2 off only 12.1 overs.

A rapid 40 off 19 balls by Dan Heaps took Chedworth to a comfortable victory to keep them well placed to challenge for the league title.
