10-mile Time Trial – Race No.10 of the 2014 series.

Thirty three riders set off , a rather low turnout due to the poor weather forecast and pouring rain.

Hodges led home the dozen Corinium riders in 24.51 ahead of Mark Foyn who continues to go well in 25.16.

Third place went to the steadily improving Jason Costello with (26.20), not his best time this season but conditions required care on islands and rough road surfaces.

Vet Allan Norwood led the remainder in fourth place (27.37) just ahead of junior Alex Foyn (27.44), Terry Barry (29.55) and John Whittaker (30.04).

Eighty-year-old Den Hedges, probably riding the wrong bike for the conditions, nevertheless took eighth place in 30.25 in front of brave Marguerite Miatt who timed at 30.51 to win the ladies class.

Triathlete Carol Clarke was next in at 32.28 for 10th spot with newcomer to racing Annie Pegler at 33.00 in 11th, just ahead of Ross Gregory in 33.03.

Lee Piercy, recent winner of his age group at the World Duathlon Championships, came along to race but fortunately spotted a crack at the upward bend of one of his tri-bars.

Had he ridden it is quite possible he would have crashed and it was a further reminder of the need to check equipment thoroughly before racing.
