Sweetfuels CDCA Div Three
Cirencester III 198-9
Great Rissington II 124
CIRENCESTER III recorded their fourth successive win in an unbeaten start to the season as they eclipsed Great Rissington II by 74 runs to stay top of CDCA Division 3 on Saturday.
Put in to bat, the Town were given a cautious start by Ian Frost and Tom Rutter, but against tight bowling they gradually accelerated the run rate, with Frost in particular cutting loose to hit five sixes in his 48 before he was bowled with the total on 98.
Rutter was caught for 27 without addition, but Richard Moody and Mike Howell put on 37 for the third wicket and when Moody was bowled for 20, Rob Watson came in to hammer two sixes and three fours in a rapid 29 before he and Howell both departed on that score.
Rissington bowler Richmond picked up four quick wickets towards the end of the innings but the Town side still managed to reach 198-9 off their allotted 40 overs.
Surch and Chopra gave the visitors a sound start to their reply before Watson made the breakthrough by dismissing both and then bowled Curtis for a duck to finish a fine 10-over spell.
Howell then worked his way through the middle order and tail without any real resistance helped by three stumpings from Holmes and the leg-spinner went on to finish with 5-24 as Rissington folded to 124 all out.
