SWINDON TOWN will face newly-promoted Scunthorpe United at home in the opening game of the Sky Bet League One campaign on Saturday, August 9.

The first local derby takes place on Saturday, November 15 when Town entertain Bristol City and for the eighth Boxing Day in a row Town have to travel – this time to Walsall.

The season closes with the visit of Leyton Orient on Saturday, May 2.

Swindon can look forward to a particularly tough run-in. In addition to Orient, they will face Bristol City, Peterborough and newly-relegated-from-the-Championship Yeovil Town in their last half dozen games.

Manager Mark Cooper says that he is pleased to be starting the 2014/15 campaign with a home game against Scunthorpe.

"It's good to be at home," he said. "Obviously it's a team that will have their tails up after an amazing run last season. It was a record run for them so they'll be coming up full of confidence and it will be up to us to show them what League One is all about.”

SWINDON TOWN have been drawn to play runaway Conference Premier champions Luton Town in the opening round of the Capital One Cup.

The tie will be played at Kenilworth Road in the week commencing August 11.
