CIRENCESTER AC members have been busy over the last two weeks with a win coming for David Wright in the Horton Bull Run.
Cirencester AC and Triathlon Club
Horton Bull Run, 4.26 mile multi-terrain race
This event starts with a long downhill section and finishes with a final uphill push and David’s time of 25.27 was close to two minutes ahead of the second-placed runner – not bad for a V55!
Barbara Thomas finished in 38.45 (second LV55) and 54th out of 102 runners. Barbara also ran the 5km Swindon Parkrun last week, coming in second FV55 in 25.38.
Tewkesbury Half Marathon
DAVE BELL has made a habit recently of winning half marathons but he missed out at Tewkesbury by seven seconds, finishing runner-up to race winner James Rodgers of Somerset North.
Dave’s time was 1:11.55, which was about a minute off of his recent pace, which was closing in on the club’s half marathon record.
Ramsbury 5-mile road race
HOWARD EWAN made another appearance in CAC colours to finish sixth in the Ramsbury 5-mile.
Howard’s time was a respectable 34.06.
RHIANNON BROWN is a regular cross-country runner for the club but did some extra spring training for the popular Bristol 10km.
Rhiannon was 1,779th in 49.38 and 9,870 runners finished.
Westonbirt Sprint Triathlon
THE triathletes were busy too with a sprint triathlon at the beautiful Westonbirt School.
A 400m pool swim, 20km bike and a 5km run saw the consistent Laurence Giffin finish strongly to be first home for Ciren in overall 11th place.
Second, with a remarkable performance, was Nicola Denning who finished 57th overall (second lady and first lady vet).
There were numerous good results from the team who have all been investing lots of 'sweat equity' at the Club’s running and swimming training sessions.
Results: 1, Doug Hall (BW Cycling) 1:02.19; 11, Laurence Giffin 1:07.33; 57, Nicola Denning 1:14.58; 99, Lisa Stevens 1:20.45; 126, Terry Ranger 1:23.04; 154, Fay Tocknell 1:23.04; 289, Pam Wheeler 1:32.44; 302, Helen Manners 1:33.46. 382 athletes finished.
