TEN teams from nine local primary schools competed in the National Cricket Day Kwik Cricket Mixed Tournament played at Fairford CC last Thursday and St Lawrence, Lechlade were tournament winners after beating Southrop in the final.
Gloucestershire CCC president and Standard columnist John Light presented the winners with a cup and individual trophies and, in his closing address, thanked ten young leaders from Farmor's Secondary School for the way in which they helped with umpiring and scoring and praised the children on their excellent behaviour and the quality of their play.
The other primary schools participating were Ann Edwards (South Cerney), Siddington, Meysey Hampton, Kempsford, Hatherop, Fairford and Bibury, who are all members of the Cotswold East Chance to Shine cricket project and part of a national scheme run by the Charitable Foundation designed to bring and sustain cricket in state schools.
