JAMES HOWSE (14) and Lucy Mason (13), two young members of Deer Park Archers who are temporarily based at the Old Pats Sports Club in Leckhampton, have won team bronze medals for Great Britain at the 14th European Outdoor Youth Championships in Slovenia

They competed in the compound cadet (U17) teams and Lucy was the youngest competitor in entire event.

Lucy joined Kirsten George and Isabelle Carpenter to take bronze in the girls’ event after beating Ukraine 212-196. Turkey won the gold after beating Russia.

Turkey again won gold in the boys’ category after beating Italy 224-119. James Howse and team-mates James Passingham and Dean Hamilton pipped Russia by the smallest possible margin (212-211) to take the bronze.

More than 300 archers from all over Europe took part in the competition just outside Slovenia's capital city, Ljubljana.

DEER PARK ARCHERS have won the 2013 Archery GB Ontarget ‘Innovation in Archery’ Award for the second time in three years.

The award recognises the club’s work in the community and in particular its innovative use of ‘Adapted Arrows Equipment’ and the creation of a ‘Bambies’ section for five to seven-year-old archers.

DEER PARK member and Cambridge University student Ciaran Lunt was awarded the 2013 Archery GB Ontarget ‘Young Volunteer of the Year’ Award recognising his outstanding services to the club and the community.
