Douggie Rolles Cup
The first stage is an 18-hole individual medal qualifier, open to gents and ladies, in which the top 16 net scores proceed to a matchplay knockout competition for the trophy.
In near-perfect playing conditions, Kelly was the overall winner on the day, closely followed by Nick Brown (67) on countback from Irena Windslow.
Runner-up Nick had the consolation of posting the best gross score on the day, a magnificent 72.
Well done also to Tom Waller who hit birdie twos on both the 13th and 18th holes.
Shrivenham Defence Academy 4.5
Cirencester B 0.5
THE B team played against a very strong Defence Academy representative side at Shrivenham on Saturday.
The military might was too powerful for the boys from Cirencester who were overrun 4.5 to 0.5. Despite scoring six pars on successive holes, captain Jonathan Wells and his partner, were narrowly beaten 2&1 in the leading match.
The only positive result came from match 2, which saw David Murray, ably supported by Howard Jones, come back from three down to half their match.
The B Team now plays at Cleeve Hill next Saturday, which will be followed by five home matches on the trot.
Jonathan needs everyone's support and participation and would welcome aboard both new and old members irrespective of handicap or standard. Give Jonathan a call, he is in the club fixture book.
