Fairford U13s 176-1

Cricklade U13s 56 all out) by 120 runs

FAIRFORD U13s won their first game of the season in formidable style at Cricklade thanks to a fine all-round performance.

Opening batters Jacob Summers and Ethan Walker dictated terms for Fairford from the very first ball as Summers’ ebullient hitting brought him to a half century by the eighth over (at which point he retired) and Walker played some attractive strokes in a lively innings of 30.

Harvey New (36no) and Ferdi Van der Heiden (21no) continued the assault on the bowlers.

It was a tall order for Cricklade’s batters to chase such a large score but they made a bold attempt that might have been more successful had Robins (10) and Roberts (9) not both been run out by sharp interceptions in the field by Van der Heiden and New.

When Thorn, Cricklade’s other in-form batter, was caught by New off the bowling of Van der Heiden the home team’s hopes of winning faded and then were snuffed-out completely by bowlers Dylan Gray, Aaron Homer and Summers as they picked up further wickets.
