RUGBY: Cirencester old boy Seville called up to England Counties U20s squad

WILL SEVILLE, who played for Cirencester RFC from U9s right through to Colts before going to Loughborough University, has been selected for England Counties U20s squad.

Forward Seville has been named in a 25-man squad for the international against Georgia U20s at Cambridge’s Volac Park on Saturday, May 24 (2pm).

The squad was selected after a recent development and selection weekend at Welbeck Defence Sixth Form College in Leicestershire.

The England Counties U20s squad will assemble at Cambridge on Monday (May 19).

Cirencester RFC spokesman Simon Collyer-Bristow explained why Seville is listed as playing for Richmond and representing Surrey, rather than Cirencester and Gloucestershire.

"Will originally elected not to play for GRFU U20s this season because of first-year Loughborough Uni commitments," said Collyer-Bristow. "But at the last minute said he’d help a mate out for one game for Surrey, where he was born and therefore qualified to play.

"One thing led to another and he had to sign for Richmond RFC as part of that.

"England Counties is the highest level for non-Academy rugby players and a real achievement for Will who will always be one of ours!"
