POULTON finished a fine season in the league with the runners-up spot and clinched their final three points with a 3-0 victory over Sherston.
Cirencester League Div One
Poulton 3
Sherston 0
Poulton were under pressure for long periods in the game played at Down Ampney FC until Will Power gave them the lead after 38 minutes.
John Dawson made it 2-0 straight after the break and a third goal from Andrew Pritchett settled the issue 10 minutes from the end.
Sherston certainly didn't look like a side facing relegation, and Poulton goalkeeper Gary Morris had to make some crucial saves early on.
Poulton were confirmed in second place the following evening when South Cerney, needing a point at CHQ, went down 9-0.
