CHERINGTON-BASED dressage rider Olivia Oakeley enjoyed a weekend of good results in Saumur, France competing in the CDIO Young Rider competition.

Riding her own 13-year-old chestnut Donna Summer, Olivia led the way for Team GB by posting a score of 69.895 per cent in the Team Test to finish sixth, just behind Belgium’s Jorinde Verwimp.

It meant the UK Sport lottery funded World Class Development Programme rider helped GB to finish third in a tight competition for the Young Rider Nations Cup just behind winners Germany and runners-up Belgium.

Oakeley, 21, and Donna Summer – or Rio as he’s known at home – continued their good run into the Young Rider individual and freestyle tests, placing fourth (69.15%) and fifth (72.12%) respectively.

Olivia tweeted a picture of herself and Rio jumping a log out on the Saumur cross country course in full competition dress after their freestyle prize giving.
