THE Cotswold East Chance to Shine Cricket Project, which helps coach the game in state schools in the district for the Gloucestershire Cricket Board, ran a pre-season Indoor tournament for boys and girls from primary schools at the Fairford Sports Centre which was won by St. Lawrence C of E Primary School from Lechlade.

Four other primary schools competed from Hatherop, Fairford, Southrop and South Cerney, but it was St. Lawrence who won all their games and deserved the title due to some attractive, aggressive batting throughout the competition.

Thanks goes to Farmor's School for providing 'young leaders' whose efforts in scoring and umpiring were outstanding and helped make the games great fun for all the children who participated.

Allan Brown, head teacher at Southrop C of E Primary School, presented the winners with individual medals after the game and thanked not only the young leaders for their efforts, but also Fairford Cricket Club for managing the event so successfully.
