Fairford dominated the early stages of the game with Theo Harper having to be quick off his goal line on several occasions to prevent his team falling behind.

Just as Avonvale began to grow into the game, Fairford struck to take a deserved lead into half-time.

Vale emerged after the break much improved with Lewis Rodgers setting up Luca Pollitt with an open goal to reduce the deficit.

Their attacking was now relentless and when Benjamin Cook played Rodgers through, he beat his marker before finishing brilliantly from a tight angle.

Fairford still had time to hit the post in a tense final few minutes but Avonvale hung on.

VALE'S last game of the season proved to be very entertaining.

They had much the better of the first half defending well but couldn't find the finishing touch in front of goal with three or four good chances going unconverted.

Against the balance of play, Wanderers capitalised and went in front early in the second period.

However, after a fine strike from Laurence Cooper rattled the bar Vale looked rejuvenated and a few minutes later Theo Martin pulled the home side level with a clever lob.

Vale kept driving forward and took the lead through Lorcan Purser and when James Skeldon headed home in the dying moments of the game the three points were secured.
